DYNAMISM THROUGH BASIC-ISM
We have six million color receptors in our eyes called cones. These cones are responsible for perceiving thousands upon thousands of colors, from the greens of bubbly seafoam to the reds of a cozy fireplace. These are nice images to think about, right? So why on Earth would I take that away from you? Why make an image black and white?
It takes photography back to its basics through deconstruction, using the basic building blocks that make up a photo – line, shape, and light – to make something new and dynamic by drawing attention back to those basic elements, creating a new appreciation for the subject matter, especially due to the conscious choice to shoot in black and white. We’re also used to color photography and color in general – forcing us to connect the dots with black and white photos.
