Biography

As a kid, I quickly fell in love with movies. It was my goal to make sure I watched all of the absolutely gotta-see, need-to-watch classics, all the way from Wrath of Khan to Bill & Ted. Movies made me realize what art can be - how moving images can instill the strongest of emotions.

In college, I was initially a media arts major focusing on Film Studies at the University of South Carolina. But I realized that at the heart of it all, the necessary building block of all cinema was the photograph. It contains one singular moment with emotion - which, strung together with around 172,000 frames or so - creates one large story. But with this singular photograph, there can be an implied hundred photos before and after the initial photo was taken. We don’t get to see them, but instead have the privilege of imagining. To understand the medium of the photograph would be vital, so I made a transition and switched my major to focus on photography.

A few years after I graduated, I wanted to take what I've learned from photography and apply it to the medical field. I went back to school to become a Radiologic Technologist - allowing me to truly help others by using diagnostic imaging - the frontline of all patient diagnoses.

I enjoy the experience of going out and photographing all things, because they all have their own stories to tell. If you take the opportunities that come your way - or even better, the ones that are out of the way - and photograph those things, then you are guaranteed every time to learn a little something new, keeping things exciting and fresh. That way, every photo is equally new and of its own.
